The Hackathon welcomes all UAE citizens, and residents with a valid Emirates ID, including students, employees and entrepreneurs keen to innovate and craft flexible ideas that will shape the future of the UAE for upcoming generations.

There are four tracks to partake in: School Students track, University Students track, Entrepreneurs, Experts, & Employees track, and Researchers track.

It’s one of the largest competitive events encouraging innovation in the UAE. It motivates and inspires entrepreneurs, creative thinkers, and innovators to shape the future by solving pressing technical challenges of government or public entities and organisations in the UAE. The competition utilizes open data available on the UAE official Open Data Portal (Bayanat.ae) as a tool to come up with innovative solutions.

The UAE Hackathon is part of the innovative initiatives launched by The Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA). Several government entities participate as partners in the UAE Hackathon, including local digital and electronic governments, federal and local government agencies, and the private sector.

The Hackathon welcomes all UAE citizens, and residents with a valid Emirates ID, including students, employees and entrepreneurs keen to innovate and craft flexible ideas.

Participants should join one of four tracks according to their qualifications: School Students track, University Students track, Entrepreneurs, Experts, & Employees track, and Researchers track.

No, unfortunately there is no online participation or training for team members based outside the UAE.

Participation requires only an interest in understanding or applying open data to solve challenges related to any of the topics. Specific technical skills are not necessary.

No specific technical skills are needed, as technical training will be provided during the hackathon.

Then, select the track that best aligns with your background from the following options: School and University Students, Entrepreneurs & Employees, Researchers. After selecting a theme that interests you, choose a challenge that motivates you to develop a solution.
